Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) & Acupuncture
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), is a medicine that draws on the experience of several millennia of implementing modalities such as herbal medicine, acupuncture, and various alternative methods. It recognizes the person as a 'complete whole'. A dynamic creature who's energy is always in motion. TCM does not only focus on symptoms, but seeks to find the root of the issue and then works to pull the person's equilibrium back into balance.
Balance = Healthy, and Vibrant.
Community Acupuncture
NOTE - FOR SAME DAY APPOINTMENTS WITH CHENYU PLEASE CALL 250-650-7259, WITH ERICA PLEASE CALL 403-921-6064
(Direct Billing not available for Community Acupuncture, sorry!)
What is Community Acupuncture? Community Acupuncture takes place in a large open room, with multiple reclining chairs spaced apart. The chairs are in a circle with no walls in between. This creates a communal healing space which can enhance the power of the treatments as well as create a sense of togetherness. This draws back the curtains of the mysterious acupuncture modality and brings it out into the open.
Using a shared space like this allows the practitioner to provide effective acupuncture to multiple people at a time. This allows for the price to be dramatically lower then a private session, making this the most affordable option for acupuncture. Price is on a sliding scale, so patients are able to choose the amount they pay - $40-$70 for an Initial appointment, $30 - $60 for any follow ups. Each treatment is about an hour long, giving patients lots of time to rest while retaining the acupuncture pins.
These appointments are billable to insurance so detailed receipts will be provided, but the practitioner will not be able to provide direct billing. You will have to submit your own claims to your insurance provider. Free 15 minute consultation are not offered for Community Acupuncture as it is priced to allow for people just to come and try it out.
Patients will be fully clothed, so we ask that you wear loose clothing that can be rolled up past the knees and elbows. This allows the practitioner to access a majority of the most foundational acupuncture points - knees and elbows down, as well as the head and neck. Warm layers are also a good idea as people often cool off once they relax.
Patients who are sensitive to noise are invited to bring earplugs or headphones. If you have a small pillow or blanket you would like to keep yourself comfortable you are more then welcome to bring that as well.
RAPID Neurofascial Reset
RAPID NeuroFascial Reset (NFR), is a neurologically based, active therapeutic technique that focuses on the central nervous system’s role in alleviating tension and restrictions within the body. It provides quick and long lasting results that get to the root of the pain. Utilizing a biopsychosocial perspective RAPID addresses the body’s perception of threat and danger. By bringing the brain back into safety, most painful conditions and range of motion restrictions disappear. Chronic pain is typically caused by residual inflammation by-products that haven’t been flushed out in the process of healing. By applying RAPID techniques to the area we cause the body to flush them and restore normal tissue function. RAPID therapists use a combination of hands on palpation, examination and treatment. Hypersensitive areas are treated by combining precisely directed depth and with very specific patient movements.
Treatments are performed with clients fully clothed and without use of oil, so please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing to your appointment. Sessions may be uncomfortable or a bit intense and this occurs as the neurological system is being stimulated to restore normal function. However, treatments are also generally shorter - 45 minutes initial and 30 minutes or shorter for follow ups. 2-6 treatments are recommended for best results.
Some of the conditions that usually improve or resolve with RAPID NFR include headaches/migraines, back pain, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, shoulder pain, Frozen Shoulder, Sciatica, Plantar Fasciitis, knee problems, Tennis/Golfers elbow, Whiplash, TMJ issues, Bursitis, bunions and arthritic joints, neurological hypersensitivity.
Anima Soma
This treatment combines guided meditation, nervous system regulation, gentle myofascial techniques and energy work in order to bring your mind, body and spirit into a more balanced state. The goal of the treatment is to bring the nervous system back to a sense of safety, allow the body to release tension and relieve any energetic congestion. These sessions are performed fully clothed and are very gentle on the client. Aromatherapy and flower essences may be used with clients’ permission.
Reiki
Reiki (rei-ki or “universal energy”) is a gentle yet powerful energy healing modality derived from Japan. This type of therapy supports well-being and strengthens the body’s natural ability to heal on a physical, emotional and spiritual level. Reiki can be used as a compliment to traditional medical treatments of any kind.
A reiki practitioner channels energy through their hands to the recipient, promoting balance, calm, and well-being. The client lies on the massage table fully clothed while the practitioner places their hands gently on or above their body.
During a Reiki session the recipient can expect to feel movement of energy, see colors, feel warmth, tingling or nothing at all, falling asleep is also normal. Reiki energy will be flowing throughout the regardless of which sensations come up.
After receiving a Reiki session the client might feel very relaxed or energized, there may be a decrease in physical and emotional pain. Make sure to hydrate and move mindfully through your day after receiving a Reiki healing.
